2014 Accomplishments : HSE Department

The HSE Department was hit by numerous health related challenges and hopes to reduce the number of incidents in 2015
SAFETY
- Developed and established authorized  HSSE Policies and Objectives.
- Ensured policy implementation across METS operations.
- Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI).
- 66% Close out of Hazard Identifications Reported.
- Obtained SPDC HSSE Certificate for Adibawa re-entry.
- 6nos. Management Field  Inspections to METS Worksite.
- HSE Performance Milestone achievement- contributing to the SPDC 40million MnHrs. LTI Free Exp. MnHrs.

HEALTH
- Zero work related or occupational health illness recorded.
- Ensured continuous awareness creation, provision  and deployment of hand sanitizers/thermo scanners to personnel/worksites as measures  on Ebola outbreak.

SECURITY
- 1 No. Security incident at Akpajo yard- vandalization of the inlet manifold/Transifier.( under investigation by the Police).

ENVIRONMENT
- Zero citation from Regulatory  Bodies.
- Ensured success of Regulatory compliance audit on all worksites by the federal ministry of environment.

MAJOR MILESTONE
- Over 2,226,078 Man-Hours without LTI.
- 100% Job related safety training.
- Successful installation of Heavy Modules at Utorogu NAG 2 site on foundations, without incidents.
- Successful evaluations of our HSSE management system by clients/regulatory bodies.
- Successful technical inputs to technical tender submissions.
- Flawless interface management with Clients on HSSE issues.

MANPOWER LEVEL/REQUIREMENTS
Current manning:
Manpower Requirements:
– Site needs will be as sites progresses.
– HSE officers interviewed for possible engagement of 1no successful candidate to replace exited personnel.

PLANS AND  PROJECTIONS
- Ensure conduct of HSSE Management field inspections/review meetings.
- Ensure close out of all outstanding identified hazards on site.
- Ensure timely close out of document deliverables on DOMGAS Project.
- Launching of IFC at Adibawa and Agbada worksites.
- Continual awareness creation/training toward strengthening site supervision.
- Corporate incentives for worksite personnels at specific Project completion  without LTI.
- Certification on HSE Management System to OHSAS 18001:2008.

CHALLENGES
- Inadequate Communication.
- Inadequate Subcontractor interface management at worksites.
- Inadequate resources, tools and materials as at when needed for effective execution of job.
- Overcoming barriers to positive safety culture.
