    Dear METS Family- Dec 2014

In this final edition of the METS Monthly for 2014, I’d like to discuss numerous subjects with you, including some of our accomplishments of 2014; what’s in store for 2015, METS’ SMART Goals for next year and the primary steps we’ll take to achieve those goals. So please join me as I map out some of the adventures that lies ahead for METS in 2015 and beyond.

The price of oil dropped further last week, ending around $70 per barrel on Friday, following OPEC’s decision to keep production quotas unchanged. However, Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has assured Nigerians that they have no reason to panic, as the government has a comprehensive strategy, based on a number of scenarios, to cushion the impact of the slide in crude oil price even if it were to drop to as low as $60 per barrel.

OPEC said that a review of its Secretary General’s report on global oil market outlook, particularly the supply/demand projections for the first, second, third and fourth quarters of 2015, was not in favour of a decision to change the existing production quota of 30 million barrels reached in December 2011.

Nigeria has discontinued selling oil to the US earlier this year. However, Nigerian oil sales to Asia’s four largest oil importers – China, Japan, India and South Korea – have risen more than 40 percent so far this year over the 2013 level.

We are not sure what the obstacles or opportunities for 2015 will present, but I’d like to encourage the METS team to continue the hard work that has brought us to where we are today. It is only through persistence and determination that we’ll reach our goals. Let’s not be distracted, let’s continue to keep our eye on the bigger picture and work towards our mutual end-goals.

For those of you whom I may not see again until 2015, please accept my sincerest wishes for a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year. For those of you who will be travelling over the festive season, please do so carefully and vigilantly. May God bless you and your loved ones abundantly over this special time. May you get to spend it with your family and loved ones. From the entire METS Management, I’d like to wish all METS employees a wonderful festive season.

We’re looking forward to the successes that lay ahead in 2015 but we’re also bracing ourselves for all the obstacles that’ll come our way. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Here’s to another exciting year ahead!
